The medial collateral ligament and lateral collateral ligament are one of the most prevalent injuries found in the athletic population that occurs in isolation when an excessive valgus or varus  force is applied to the knee. When such forces are applied, ligaments are overstretched and tend to sprain or even tear in some cases. Management of a ligament sprain should be assessed by PT in order to establish a safe and progressive treatment protocol. Surgery is required for patients or athletes that experience full rupture of the ligament, rehab is must for proper recovery and return to sport.

What should you do!

  • PT or Chiro evaluation
  • Activity modification
  • Cryotherapy
  • Gait Assessment
  • Manual Therapy
  • Electrical Stim Home exercise program provided by practitioner
